The Central Inspection Commission of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has proposed the party’s Politburo and Secretariat to discipline Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and former Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam for the rescue flights.
Vietnam’s state-controlled media cited the results of the meeting of the Central Inspection Commission that took place on December 20-21.
In addition to recommending disciplinary action against Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and former Ambassador Vu Hong Nam, the Central Commission also issued a number of disciplinary decisions against diplomats in the case of rescue flights.
Specifically, it expelled from the party Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha – Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Japan; Ly Tien Hung – former officer of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia; Nguyen Le Ngoc Anh- officer of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia; and Vu Ngoc Minh – former officer of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola.
It also dismissed all positions in the party for the 2020 – 2025 term for Mr. Tran Viet Thai – Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia.
The warning has given to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh – a staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia.
