A delegation from the ASEAN-US Business Council is present in Vietnam to strengthen bilateral trade relations.
In a welcome message on March 8, the US Embassy wrote on Facebook that the delegation included US business leaders and that they “will be meeting with a range of high-level government representatives to discuss priorities in economic sectors and commercial opportunities in trade and investment in Vietnam.”
A day later, the diplomatic mission added that Deputy Ambassador Melissa Bishop and the ASEAN-US Business Council delegation met Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 9 to “learn about the role of US businesses to the Vietnamese economy in the post-COVID period.”
“There are many opportunities for cooperation in a variety of fields, including healthcare, clean energy, and digital services,” the US side announced on Facebook.
According to the website of the Vietnam Government Electronic Newspaper (VGP), PM Chinh on March 8 attended and spoke at the 5th Vietnam – US Business Summit with the theme “Re-determining bilateral economic relations.”
It was reported that Mr. Chinh had “mentioned five major issues: Vietnam’s development in recent years and future development orientations; results and future of Vietnam – US relations; epidemic prevention and control, quick recovery and sustainable development; green transition, climate change adaptation; and digital transformation.”
“I am delighted with the results of Amcham’s 2021 business investment survey, whereby nearly 80% of AmCham Vietnam members who participated in the survey rated it very positively or positively about the medium and long-term prospects. The past period has once again confirmed the mutual complementarity between the two economies of Vietnam and the United States and the dynamism of the two countries’ businesses,” Chinh said.
