Eric Dziuban, Vietnam Country Director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), told Business TV Forum:
“We want our children back in school. We want to open businesses. We want the economy to thrive and people to be able to do the things that matter to their families and communities. But that will require the health sector to continue working to keep the pandemic under control and we will continue to work with Vietnam on this.”

“Over the past two years, the US government has contributed more than $30 million to support the epidemic response in Vietnam. We have also provided more than 24 million doses of vaccines made in the US and are proud to be the largest bilateral donor of a COVID-19 vaccine for Vietnam.”
Ms. Holly Thomas, an economic officer at the US Embassy, said: “We have had a great partnership and this partnership has grown stronger through the Covid-19 pandemic… I think this partnership will only continue to grow in the future.”
Mr. Dziuban said: “In addition to supporting vaccines, we are doing other things such as the US Department of Defense has also provided genetic sequencing machines for people who have tested positive in Vietnam, and we have a very strong laboratory team, and they have worked closely with regional research institutes and other labs in Vietnam to use those machines to really make sure that we can see what strains are spreading right now in Vietnam, and determine where we can put our resources to make sure people are staying safe during pandemics.”
Ms. Thomas said that during a long time of implementing social distancing, American businesses have faced some difficulties and broken supply chains, but now they can rest assured to return to 100% production according to Resolution No. 128 of the Vietnamese government on “safe adaptation” to the epidemic.
Commenting on the prospect of Vietnam-US economic-trade relations, Ms. Thomas said: “We encourage Vietnam to continue to consider implementing international best practices and a stable regulatory environment.”
